How to use the SimulEYE® Small Pupil for use with the Malyugin Ring

The Small Pupil model was developed for use with the Malyugin Ring and has been used extensively by MST to train residents on the recommended techniques of insertion and removal of the device. This model may also be used for placing iris hooks or for practicing IOL cutting and removal in the anterior chamber. With proper care and surgical technique, this model is designed to be re-used multiple times. Multiple other pupil expansion devices can also be utilized with this model until the surgeon finds their preferred device and technique.

How to clean your SimulEYE® Small Pupil Eye Model

To clean the SimulEYE® Small Pupil Eye Model, simply detach the cornea cap by removing the whole top section. Remove the iris membrane from the cornea cap and wash all the parts thoroughly. Make sure to wash out all the viscoelastic residue from all the parts. Lay all the components on a dry paper towel and allow them to air-dry well. Once completed, simply reassemble all the pieces together.

To reassemble the SimulEYE® Small Pupil Eye Model, turn the cornea cap upside down and insert the iris membrane. Make sure it’s seated well and flat. Invert the eye upside down, and rejoin both pieces together.
