SimulEYE SimuloRhexis Review from Dr. Lorenz Kuske

In this #CreatorLab with Dr. Lorenz Kuske, we are given a demonstration of how to set up a SimulEYE surgical model and perform a Simulorhexis surgery.

This is also Dr. Kuske’s first time using a surgical eye model from SimulEYE, so what you are seeing is his unfiltered reaction and review of the product:

“The first try… I am SUPER impressed. The feeling of the rhexis, how it tears, everything is very lifelike.”

After a few more tries, Dr. Kuske ( @learnabouteyes) provides his final review:

“I have to say, I am very excited about this. It is very very good. First of all, check out the size - it is so small. This is the whole thing! You need a forceps and you need some viscoelastic and that’s all you need. You can just take this eye to your table and you’re good to go.”

“I really enjoyed the fact that you can put viscoelastic on top of the cornea. This gives is a very lifelike look and I didn’t see that in any other practice eyes that I have tested so far.”

“And then the feeling! Tearing the capsule feels really really good. It is almost like in a human eye. If you can do your capsulorhexis in this eye, you can definitely do it in a human.”

This is Exactly the outcome we look for with all of our surgical eye models. Our goal at SimulEYE is to help surgeons gain confidence in their surgical skills AND in their ability to reduce patient discomfort and improve quality of life. From this reaction video, it sounds like we are doing just that!
