The SimulEYE Conj model is a very versatile platform which has found a number of uses to support training.

It can be used to demonstrate sub-conj injections or making a peritomy. It has been used for demonstrating a plasma pen and has been well received when working with amniotic membranes for ocular surface reconstruction.

The Conj Eyes and Eye Fronts are shipped DRY and MUST BE HYDRATED before use. Simply place the Eye Front in water for about 5 minutes to allow the membrane to become flexible and life-like. They can be allowed to dry out for storage and can be hydrated again at a later time.

The conj layer is quite realistic and is attached near the limbus and also down at the equator of the Eye Front. It actually extends ACROSS THE CORNEA as this provides a more realistic ocular surface when working with amniotic membranes on the cornea.

The conj layer can be taken down by a peritomy in which case the tissue should show good retraction down toward the equator. While there is no tenons layer, gel can easily be injected beneath the conj layer to provide a more realistic tissue-like feel to the conj layer. There is a hole in the sclera through which our Dispersive Viscoelastic Substitute can be injected from the back side so that it will reside beneath the conj layer. This must be done AFTER the conj layer has been hydrated and is flexible. Adding the Dispersive Viscoelastic will make the conj layer feel thicker almost like there is a tenons layer beneath it and this also makes it easier to grasp with forceps.
